After sitting through a movie in media class today, I have decided to blog about a radio personality mentioned in the movie.
Howard Stern. I don’t know what comes to your mind when you hear his name; but personally my stomach lurches and I have to hold back vomit.
I had the less than fortunate experience of witnessing one of his “shows” on television a few years ago while hanging out with some of my male friends. Needless to say, I couldn’t believe what I saw. A: I could not believe the way he spoke to his guests (usually females), and B: I couldn’t believe that women would willingly go on his show and allow him to speak like that.
I could care less about this guy, so I really don’t know much about him. After Googling him, disturbingly enough I discovered he is married! SERIOUSLY, what woman would want to MARRY Howard Stern?!
I could not believe it. Apparently Stern and his long-term girlfriend got married in October of 2008. I did a little more research on Stern’s marriage and I found the romantic story of how he proposed to his girlfriend . . .
"Do you want your Valentine's Day gift now?" MTV.com reports Stern said on the air Wednesday, re-enacting his proposal for his listeners. When Ostrosky said she wanted it, Stern says he ordered her to strip down – despite her protests that she was too "fat" to do that. After she said that, Stern says he thought, "Any girl who looks like that and thinks she's fat – I've got a chance with her." Once naked, Ostrosky was given a 5.2 carat diamond ring. "I love you. You're everything to me," Stern said he told her. "This is so gay. ... I'm asking you to spend the rest of your life with me."

After a little more research, I discovered something even more disturbing. This wasn’t Howard Stern’s first marriage. He had been married before to his first wife for 20 years!
I don’t know what is more upsetting; knowing a man who is famous for behavior like this, or knowing that not only there are women out there who are big enough masochists that they want to be guests on his show, but that there are women who want to marry this pig.
I can’t believe I spent the last hour Googling Howard Stern. I feel like I need to go to church immediately, and maybe pray the rosary.

I totally agree with you about Howard Stern. He is very inappropriate and degrading to people, especially women. I’ve had the misfortune of experiencing his work and was not impressed at all. It made me mad that these women were allowing him to act in such a way to them. It makes women get a bad name when they subject themselves to him. I don’t know why anyone would enjoy him and his work, I find him repulsive. I found it interesting that he is married, I feel sorry for her!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely hate Howard Stern. He gets paid just to say outlandish things. I really don't like how he has become so popular. He offends so many people, it is insane that he has so many listeners. He is very disrespectful to all women and treats them as objects. Howard Stern is just a jackass with a microphone. The more outrageous things he says, the more money he gets paid.
ReplyDeleteI agree Howard Stern is disgusting. But there are some women out there that do not think very highly of themselves and will let men treat them like that. And as far as the marriages, it has to be for the money and fame, otherwise why would someone put themselves through that. But I do agree that he is sick and offensive.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Howard Stern is a pig. I cannot believe why any woman would want to go on his show. He has no right to talk to people, especially ladies the way he does. Also, about his marriages he has had that is shocking. The way he proposed was just wrong in so many ways too. Fame is pretty much the only thing he has going for him. If any other guy acted like that towards women, they would most likely be called a pig or worse names to their face.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is married?! Who knew that someone who spoke about women, the way he does, would be married to someone. How could he even possibly continue to do what he was doing after he had been married. I also think that the women that actually go on his show and allow him to speak about them the way he does, need some mental help. No one could pay me any amount of money to even step foot in his studio. That is ridiculous. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said “pig”.
ReplyDeleteSay what you want about Howard Stern. I'm not a fan of him or anything but the man is one of the most famous radio personalities of all time. Most of the reason he is famous is for his outrageous antics behind the mic. If you watched the movie about him "Private Parts" you would see that he was quite the family man. However, I think that was during his first marriage. He is kind of a pig but...he is RICH.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he's married either!! That proposal is rediculous! It makes me wonder why he feels he HAS to be that mean...and why a woman would marry him is beyond me! And I think those women who go on his shows are probably looking for attention and their 15 minutes of fame and need some help!
